WTW Productions

Still only inching forward with Monster Cops production, but we have resumed editing for the next few episodes.  And while you wait for new content on the MC front, we'd also like to point out what else is going on in other productions.

Firstly if you're not aware, our little company is called WTW Productions (Whether The Weather Productions). Haven't registered a domain yet, but feel free to take a look at our preliminary site here:
http://wtwproductions.blogspot.com/

I threw together a small demo reel.

If you check out the site you'll see a list of some of our other projects, most notably a short film I've been planning to shoot since last year called REDD. It's my little twist on the Red Riding Hood story, a more of an adventure, horror, action version where our Red Riding Hood (aka REDD played by April Crum), takes on an evil forest filled with demonic Werewolves.  Check out some of the stills I took this past week.

REDD is going to be about 8 minutes long, with a shorter 4 minute viral version. It's part short, part mock trailer.  It's an idea I've had for a while, and the point in producing it is to really create something big budget cinematic using all of our no-budget resources. The costumes, fx, props, all of it done like we do Monster Cops, with no money, and a ton of work and creativity. I really want to show how we can make a big movie for nothing.

This is being shot using the Canon T2i.  A really great camera which I've already used to shoot this commercial for Midway Wicked Woods, which is airing on the local Fox Affiliate WGHP here in the Triad, NC.

So we've got alot going on, but we haven't given up on Monster Cops. There will be more soon, and definitely a new episode up before the year is over.  Thanks again for all the messages, through our contact, our facebook and on youtube. We're glad people are still excited about Monster Cops and we hope you'll enjoy Redd as well as our other upcoming productions as well.

Twists in the Plot

Due to several factors including a two week delay because of my crashed computer, Monster Cops is on hold.  Of course it is. Go back and read previous blogs and you will see a familiar pattern.  We are, after all, doing this with no money. But of course, it is not the end.  Inching my way through editing the footage that we do have, right now it is kind of a struggle to get everyone scheduled as well as work around my own schedule. That two weeks without my desktop didn't help anything at all.

But we are indeed still plotting, prodding, preparing. Pretty sure one of those words doesn't belong.

We're still working on new episodes, and working on that ever so elusive DVD compilation of Monster Cops Series 1. It's just going to take some time.  But if you are just dying to see some of the other cool stuff I and the rest of the Cops are working on, then by all means head on over to my blog
http://onespartan.blogspot.com/

There you will also find more detailed explanations as to what the heck is going on, why we are delayed, and why I've fallen in love with a piece of equipment called the Canon T2i.

Thank you so much to those of you who have messaged me with concern for Monster Cops. I promise there will be more of us to be seen. Hopefully sooner than later.

HELP US WIN!

The full episode of Monsters Vs. Cops is up at Bigstar.TV's Short Film Contest. We would greatly appreciate it if everyone would click the link below and give us a 5 star rating. We've got two days left, and we've got a good shot at winning that contest and helping spread the word about Monster Cops.

Click here: http://www.bigstar.tv/film-contest/mockumentary-2009/3132/recent/1/0

After you click the 5 star rating, you may be asked to register, which shouldn't take but a second and it's free, otherwise your rating won't count.

Monster Cops Vlog: The Office Part 1

Monday, August 9, 2010

August Rush

This past 4th, 5th, and 6th (Wed, Thurs, Fri) we started back up production on the next few episodes. We were at our office location knocking out the majority of our headquarter scenes. A great time was had by all. Well I know I had a great time. And we got quite a bit done. Shot scenes for the new episode entitled Chimera. As well as scenes for Blood Moon and Dead By Dawn.

We should have 2 more episodes online for all to see before October, with a DVD release of the full first series. With a complete 6 episodes at least. I'm working out the specs for the DVD. It's looking like a 2 disc set, with plenty of special features and videos not available online, including an extended gag reel, which many of you seem to love so much.

Also working on a total revamp of the website to enhance your viewing experience for the soon to come new episodes.

Thank you all so much for the messages. So glad we gain new fans everyday and that you guys like what we're putting out. Hopefully we can keep it up and continue to bring the full series that I imagine.

Whether we end up on TV or we reach our viewers through the power of the interwebs, I'm just happy to be entertaining all of you with our tales of comedy, action, and horror. So much more to come. So stay tuned.

Look for a new Video Blog in the next few days.

Quick Update for July

July is a busy month for me anyhow, seems to be the Birthday month, not only for myself, but alot of people. On top of all that I do have alot of video work, projects and ads to finish up, and of course, Monster Cops.

Working on editing an episode right now. Getting ready to start shooting another one. We'll have a good amount of content for the DVD coming up this Fall, and yes, as some have asked, there is already one planned screening for 3 episodes in North Carolina. More on all that later.

Just know we're hard at work, and of course, we are still fundraising. So here comes the obligatory Fund Raising Widget.

Special Thanks to Marcellus Suber for making a $50 pledge. THANK YOU SIR!!!!!

Please make a pledge to secure your DVD, become a Monster Cop, Get a T-shirt, and or become a producer. And PLEASE Spread The Word!

The Wheel In The Sky

Yup, it keeps turnin. Right off the bat, gotta say, we need your pledges.

Working to put things together for the first round of festival submissions and we could use your support. Make a pledge, get a credit in episodes, on IMDB, get T-shirts, DVD's, and possibly more. This is a great way to make sure you get your DVD copy of Monster Cops Series 1.

Currently doing re-writes on the next few episodes. Getting things ready to start shooting, hopefully soon. But how soon we get started really depends on our funding situation. So we shall see what transpires in the next few weeks. In the meantime, there is plenty to prepare for. As I said, doing re-writes, our make up artist is prepping, I'm trying to schedule some second unit shoots.

Stay tuned for a Video Blog, as many of you seem to like it when we do those. Glad you're having fun with those. Please, please, please, help spread the word about our fundraising, click on the IndieGoGo widget and pass it around. While your at it, click on our links to the right and subscribe, follow, like us on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc.

The more followers, subscribers, and YouTube views we can get in, the better.

And if you haven't yet, make some time to watch our latest episode, Monsters Vs. Cops.

Time's Up

The post I made over at Kickstarter.

And so we reach the end of our time here on Kickstarter without reaching our target goal. But the upside is we did get some backers, and we were able to get the word out to maybe a few more people that may have not known about Monster Cops before. Also I had fun making the Vlogs.

Thank you all so, so, so much for showing your support. Thank you to those that have messaged with kudos and positive comments, and especially to our wonderful and amazing backers. It means alot to me to know you guys would put money up to help this project.

Rest assured, this does not mean the end of Monster Cops. As I've stated in previous Vlogs and Blogs, we'll continue to produce this the way we've always done it, with our creativity, our ingenuity, and our passion and love for this series. I get messages every week from different people who find our little series and love it. So we'll do what we can to make em, and get em out to it's intended audience.

As much as we can do with no money, we will still try to scrounge up what we can to help with the marketing, pay for festival fees, and cover a few production costs (mainly food for the cast and crew). In order to really get the job done we will need more than just a few bucks from our day job checks. So if you would like to continue to support us and want to see more of this series, you can make your pledge over at IndieGOGO. It's yet another fundraising platform where you get rewards for your pledge, but there we actually get the money regardless of reaching our goal and you definitely get your reward.

We've restructured the rewards we are giving so we can actually guarantee you those specific rewards for your pledge. So if you want to reserve your copy of Monster Cops Series 1, then you can do so at IndieGOGO. http://www.indiegogo.com/Monster-Cops-Web-Series

And if you don't want to transfer your pledge over to our IndieGOGO, that's perfectly understandable, let me at least make a few suggestions on causes and projects you should support.

First off, we're all about donating a portion of DVD and merchandise sales to Cancer Charities, and in the future to other causes, so if you can donate to http://www.cancer.org/ or http://www.bcaction.org/. Or head on over to http://www.bbb.org/us/charity/ and find something worthwhile to donate to.

Also this guy is amazing, and totally deserves his own show:
http://myown.oprah.com/audition/index.html...

And other projects on Kickstarter that deserve pledges:
Theater Town: A Documentary about a High School Reunion Show 60 years in the Making.
http://kck.st/azYgAQ
HENRI 2.0 -- A Science Fiction Short Film
http://kck.st/cLEnyJ
Good Luck, and Godspeed
http://kck.st/92IQ8Q
The Good News "Because good things still happen."
http://kck.st/cFTZcl
Planet X - A short film, a feature film.
http://kck.st/aTr9KM

Again thank you soooo much to all of our backers, all of you are awesome, and I truly appreciate you and your support for this series. And thank you so much to Kickstarter for allowing us the opportunity to get the ball rolling on fund raising. So what if we were unsuccessful here, in my opinion it was still a win, we got to spread the word a little further, and we had fun doing it, so thank you to Kickstarter.

Please keep checking back at http://monstercops.com or over at http://monstercopsmovie.blogspot.com
Thank you all so much.

Ooh a Blurb!

The countdown closes in on Kickstarter. And now we've got our first review for Monsters Vs. Cops.  You can check out Night Of The Living Podcasts episode where they review Monster Cops in general and specifically the episode Monsters Vs. Cops.

Click here to go to the page where you can download and listen to the episode.

Or look them up on iTunes and while your at it, subscribe and give them a high rating.

The review is around the 1:05:00 mark. And please enjoy some of their great silliness as they talk about it., especially Chiseck's Sheriff Impression. Special thanks to Kelley Kombrinck for saying some really great things. As a matter of fact here's a blurb we'll include on any covers, ads, pages etc.

Lighthearted and Brutal. It's real, hardcore supernatural horror with humor.
The writing is so subtly good.
- Kelley Kombrinck "Night Of The Living Podcast"
I actually kind of leaned on what he said in an email to me. ;)  Talking to him and hearing what he had to say, I got that he really got the episode, and I'm happy that he was able to connect with it. It's always great to find that people get exactly what it is your trying to convey in your work.

We'll be getting more reviews as we reach more press. Especially when we start doing screenings and fests with that episode. Which of course depends on what kind of money we can get in.

Our Kickstarter effort is not looking all that great, but we're not quite done yet. Even if we don't make it, we still have some other opportunities for current backers and anyone else who wants to contribute to actually contribute directly to us. We need whatever cash we can get to help us get those screenings going as well as to help supplement some production costs for these next few episodes.  More on that after Kickstarter is all said and done.

But if you still want to take a shot at helping us get our Kickstarter up there in the next 3 days, then by all means, click and give it a shot.

We're back online

Yes this is a random photo of one of our lovely Vampires, Cat D. Cat currently plays Scarlet the Vampire in our most recent episode Monsters Vs. Cops. Please check it out.

Servers are back up. Hoping that everyone is able to reach Monstercops.com

We're getting down to it now. And we need more pledges. So please do what you can to spread the word, and if you can, please, PLEASE, make a pledge. You can pledge as low as $1. JUST $1!!!!

Sorry. Didn't mean to yell.

As I've stated before, we'll be going ahead with a new episode soon. But only if we get the funding in can we, for sure, do more than 1 episode (3 more, possibly 4, which would make a total of 5 or 6). And if we get the funding then we can definitely setup digital downloads, and of course the special edition DVD Series 1 of Monster Cops.

We'll continue to pump out as much Monster Cops content as we can. Our ultimate goal is to provide those digital downloads, put out DVD's, and at the sametime create an equal amount of free content for you to see on the website, for as long as we can, and as long as people like it.

If we can reach our goal of $4,000 then it's all good. If we do not reach that goal in the next 15 days, then the pledges go away, and we'll resign ourselves to producing what we can when we can, which means 2 year hiatus between episodes.

Thank you so much to those who have pledged so far. And thank you to all those who've messaged us, tweeted us, emailed us, your messages of support for our series. Gotten alot of really great feedback from everyone about the newest episode Monsters Vs. Cops. So glad you guys like the ending, I was rather proud of it.

The next episode is the Vampire episode. Alot of Vampire vs. Military action. Can't wait to get started, and I hope we'll have the funding soon to really nail that episode, and make that one as great as it can be.

We hope to have some screenings coming up at different fests and venues and we'll be sure to let you guys know when those come up.

If you're interested in being a Vampire or auditioning for the next episode and you can make it out to the Winston Salem, NC area, feel free to message me through the contact form. http://www.monstercops.com/contact

Thanks again to all our supporters. If we can raise this money, I will sleep with all of you (not really).

Let's Make It Happen

We've been hard at work trying to raise that money. 18 days left on Kickstarter and we really need more pledges.

If you can, make a pledge. You can pledge as low as $1. If you can't then please tell a friend. Heck tell all your friends.

Here are the last few Vlogs we've put out:

Monster Cops makes a love connection.

Chris, Brandon, (and even Patrick) dance for your pledges.

Danielle joins in and pleads for your money.

Here's a clip from the last Episode "Monsters Vs. Cops"

If we raise the money then we'll be working on at least 3 episodes this summer. If we don't raise it, we'll do what we've always done and make the best with what little we've got. We'll be producing at least one more episode this Summer, whether we get the money or not.

Next episode is Monster Cops: Dead By Dawn. It's the Vampire episode, and I really can't wait to get started on it.

A couple people have messaged me and asked what the long term goal for Monster Cops is and do we always plan on putting our stuff online for free.

The plan is to continue to make as much content that we can and put the majority of it online. If we put out a DVD, I'd definitely want to have content that you would only see on the DVD. So if we produced a total of 8 episodes, I'd probably put 5 of them online, with the full line up available on DVD or for Digital Download. But I'd want to continue to create as many Minisodes/Webisodes as we can, and continue to make those available for free.

I want to be able to provide as much free content as possible, make enough money off of it to create bigger and better content, and at the sametime provide content you can purchase and own yourself. All the while raising money for charities. If you come to the website, I want you to be able to have alot of content to consume. If you want to purchase a DVD or Digital Download, then I want you to have something unique and special for your money.

I'm always looking into to new ways to get our content out, and I've been studying as many new (and old) business models and distribution strategies as I can.

However we can, we'll continue to make Monster Cops and get it out to you anyway possible.

Well, as long as you like it, which judging by alot of the comments and messages, you do. So thank you.

KICKSTARTER

It's been a busy couple of days and it's not slowing down.

First off I've been trying to fix some issues with the site. So some pages are incomplete and some video players aren't working properly. But all will be well tonight.

Second. WE WERE APPROVED OVER AT KICKSTARTER!

We're trying several different routes to get the funding we need to get the rest of the episodes finished in time to get a DVD out by Halloween, and one of those ways is with Kickstarter. It' s web site that helps you get set up to accept donations for your creative projects. They're being picky about what projects they help out right now, and they've totally approved Monster Cops.

So do me a favor. Click on the Widget below, and find out how you can help us get funding. We're offering some very interesting rewards for your donations. We have 32 days to raise $4000. So please help us out, and spread the word.

Night Moves

Just a quick update.

Next episode is held up due to unforeseen computer problems. It is currently being remedied and I hope to get back to editing this week.

In the meantime I'm working on re-writes for the next few episodes and re-tooling the business plan and agenda so we can get theses episodes out to its intended audience, hit some screenings through out the country, and get ready for Monster Cops Series 1 DVD this fall.

Don't Stop Believin

I'm anxious to get this new episode out for all to see. I feel like this one is a bit closer to what I envisioned Monster Cops to be. Funny for sure, a good amount of Monster action (zombies specifically in this episode), and a bit of character driven drama, all wrapped up in a reality show atmosphere.

We'll be spending the next few months putting together several more episodes and minisodes, all leading up to a nice little DVD release. I know several of you have asked how you can own your own copy of the Monster Cops series, and it's coming.

Wrapping up this episode this week. Also doing site updates, so please be patient as some links and video players may not work properly. I know some of the comment widgets have disappeared. Hopefully next week, we'll have a fully updated and functioning site with a brand spanking new 20 minute episode for all to see.

Thanks for all the positive messages of support for Monster Cops. It means alot to know that people like what we're doing. You guys are awesome.

Girl You Know It's True

Yes I just quoted a Milli Vanilli song. What does that have to do with Monster Cops?

Absolutely nothing.

Quick update. Trying to take advantage of this extra time I've got on my hands, decided to really make a run for it and do as much work on Monster Cops as possible. Yes there has been a bit of a hiatus do to the usual life/reality stuff, (Day jobs, Scheduling, Holidays, Weather, Dams, Beavers, etc.)

Was able to update not only the site, but the Minisodes (formerly webisodes) with two newish videos. One is called WOLF BAIT, where Hoss shows us his technique for luring out Werewolves. The second is called CHOPS, where Bateman and Cutter subdue a potential Vampire, who may or may have not shaved his chops off, and may have eaten a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Some funny stuff, yes, but it is delving a little too much into the wackiness with no sign of Monsters, and we are after all, Monster Cops. I want to make sure that some of the videos coming up will feature just a bit more horror and Monsters go along with the comedy, so a Zombie themed full length episode is coming, as is a an even more Zombie filled video / Zombie Training School.

The plan is to really get back on the ball with Monster Cops, more episodes, more minisodes, and much more entertainment to really show you the full extent of just how awesome and entertaining Monster Cops can be. We'll try not to let the supposed trappings of reality get in the way of that. Perhaps (God willing) we'll even have some merchandise and a Series 1 DVD available for purchase, as so many of you have messaged me about over the past coupla years.

I'm really going to bust my ass to make it all happen. Cuz, girl ... you know it's true.

Yeah, I'm sorry, I was just trying to come full circle and find a way to fit in the Milli Vanilli reference and it just came off kind of stupid and cheesy, and now I'm rambling.

I'll stop now.

If you haven't noticed

I've been overhauling the site. http://www.monstercops.com

Simplifying, rearranging, optimizing. I can't think of anymore "ing" words.

Mystifying?

No.

Been hard at work (not really) trying to put together the next minisode (note we changed webisode to minisode since techincally all episodes on the web would be considered "web"isodes, and minisode makes more sense since they are on the "mini" side. Hmmm, then maybe we should call them minisides. Anyhoo.)

As always working towards trying to get some sort of funding going, but not really a huge huge priority, since we cam do this no budget. There are a few irons in the fire, so to speak, but as always I never hold my breath on anything. If something happens it'll happen. Got some more time to work on Monster Cops now, so that is exactly what I will be doing, and I hope to get new material up very soon.

And BigStar.Tv's contest will be ending soon, so if you haven't voted us up to help us win yet, then by all means, click this link, register, and give us a rating of  %100.

FREEZE FRAME

And now I've got that song stuck in my head.

And yes there is a new episode. And NO it is not available to see yet. Why? Because other people have to see it first. And these other people will determine whether or not we will do more episodes with some money, or if we will continue to do episodes with no money at all. So in the meantime (is that supposed to be two separate words?) here are some freeze frames from the upcoming episode, which honestly, is limboing between two different titles.

Officer Windows takes down a Cave Dwelling Zombie, and looks cool doing it.

Splattering zombie blood all over clean laundry. Such a shame.

Weir in the graveyard holding the MKX300 Weapon.

Jack looks to the skies.

This is about as close as we're going to get to a breast shot on Jack, sorry folks.

Cutter at a comm station.

Jones ready to "Jones" some zombies.

Weir interrupting Carl's interview, again.

And a freeze frame of the head shot so many of you like.

I swear we'll have some new vids up soon, be a vlog, a webisode, or mayhaps even the very next episode. Stay tuned.
